Summary Retained by building to successfully demonstrate historic compliance with old plumbing code. Successful reversal of insurance company initial assertion. |
Description Expert evaluation of damage caused by fire, review & evaluation of insurance company unfavorable response based on current code noncompliance, and local plumbing code historic review to determine that the building was built in compliance with then prevailing plumbing requirements. Old plumbing code required only one (1) shutoff valve at gas service entry point for the entire complex contrary to the current requirements of having one for each building service entry. We were successful in demonstrating compliance based on the timing of C of O issuance and client was able to successfully secure reimbursement for the cost of upgrading gas service to current code level from insurance company. |
