In 2013, MCBG worked with the West Village Houses on Barrow, Bank, and West streets to reduce the total energy usage by 20%, successfully complying with the NYSERDA incentive program. The project involved implementing energy conservation procedures for 42 electrically heated dwellings by reducing and balancing constant toilet and kitchen exhausts to minimize infiltration losses, thermal imaging, evaluating the cost/benefit of methods to decrease energy loss, and designing upgrades to the electrical systems after Hurricane Sandy.
